August 1998 Euregio.net installs the latest version of the WebSTAR webserver software. New plug-ins and server side scripts are installed Testing of new automatic mirroring and website acceleration software begins. New FTP server is installed, making it easier to update websites through the file transfer protocol which is available from many web publishing solutions. Euregio.net begins redesigning the complete web site for easier navigation and better user experience. Update of the child protection site completed. Euregio.net has served its 20 millionth page in just less than 3 years since launching the service. July 1998 Euregio.net upgrades it's network backbone to a 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps switched Fast Ethernet. New sites and servers are added. Testing of new search engine and web crawler begins with indexing of more than 80,000 newspaper articles coming from the issues of the last 2 years of Grenz-Echo.
